Long Island Society for Paranormal Research is a not for profit organization dedicated to trying to prove or disprove life after death and other unexplained phenomena. Our group consists of mature, responsible adults who use state of the art equipment to come up with a scientific explanation for paranormal activity.
We gather information about a case through research, interviews, and word of mouth. Our investigations consist of scientific experiments that include Electronic Voice Phenomena (most commonly known as EVP), photo and video analysis, dramatic temperature change, electro- magnetic field anomalies, and other various testing.
We offer all our investigations FREE OF CHARGE, and any information that is collected by us is kept confidential to protect the privacy of those involved. We cover the entire Tri-State area and will travel further if our help is needed elsewhere.
When you, the client, invite us into your home to help you to understand what you are experiencing we take it very seriously. We are here to investigate your claims and to give you some peace of mind. We go about our investigation from a scientific stand point. Under no circumstances will we use a Ouija board or conduct a “séance”. We come into a home and attempt to debunk the claims of activity, if we cannot explain the activity in any natural way we are left with a much more compelling piece of evidence than if we just assumed it was paranormal. You can expect the investigation to last anywhere from 3 to 8 hours. The amount of time varies from case to case, but 3 to 4 hours is typical. The less individuals that are present during our investigation, the better. When there are a large amount of people present that are non-essential (have not experienced any activity, etc.) we have a harder time keeping the noise level down and we need to account for everyone’s whereabouts at all times, so- the fewer, the better. The following is a guideline of a standard investigation:

We work as a team and are willing to assist anyone who may need our help. Cases are always different- whether someone is having issues with a ghost, experiencing unexplained occurrences, even if it's another paranormal investigator in need of guidance or extra help, our main intentions are to assist, advise, and educate.
Walk-through: The walk-through should include the entire home, highlighting the areas where the activity has occurred, as well as an traumatic events (ex: a death), or anything you may feel is pertinent. We would also like to be shown the fuse box/circuit breakers and any other areas you know of that may emit a high electro-magnetic field.
Equipment Set-up: The equipment is generally set up in a central location, such as a living room or dining room. We will provide all our own equipment, such as a table, chairs, extension cords, etc., if you are uncomfortable with us using your furniture. We will be setting up a DVR (digital video recorder) and monitor at the central location. IR (infrared) cameras will be positioned in various areas of the house; first in those locations where you have reported activity and if possible, any other areas that will allow us an additional perspective on those areas.
Physical Investigation: We will investigate using various pieces of equipment, usually beginning with an EMF sweep of the home using EMF detectors. We will be looking for areas of high EMF concentration, such as a fuse box or circuit breaker (EMF stands for electro-magnetic field). We will also take temperature readings of your home. The IR cameras are set up to continuously record from the moment they are set up, until the moment we break down at the end of an investigation. We may also use hand-held video recorders and cameras for additional recording purposes.
Expectation of the Homeowner: The only things we will ask of you are the following:
-There will be a period of time when we will ask whomever is in attendance to be as quiet as possible. This is because we will be using audio recorders to try to capture EVPs or Electronic Voice Phenomenon (the sounds of unexplained voices or sounds that generally are not heard by the human ear). We will notify you when we need your assistance in keeping the noise level down to ensure accurate recordings.
-We also ask, when possible that you either remain in the centralized area or advise us when you will be moving around the house. This is only for the purposes of being able to account for everyone in the home and to eliminate any issues later on when reviewing the evidence.
.

After we have completed our investigation we will break down our equipment and advise you of the next step, as well as any pertinent information that was gathered during the investigation.
We will typically contact you within one to two weeks after the investigation to either schedule an additional investigation or, if all investigations have been completed, we will schedule a sit-down in which we present any evidence we have collected, share personal experiences, and/or information we feel is relevant (such as information discovered through research or high EMF fields).
LISPR is working on creating a network of Consultants that we can bring in on cases we determine that more help is needed on. We are trying to cultivate a network of specialists in various fields (ex. social workers, geologists, priests, lawyers. etc.) so that when we come to the reveal we can offer our clients a real tangible solution to their problems, whatever they may be. LISPR's first priority will always be our client, and as such, we take very seriously any client asking for help or for a resolution to their individual problem, and a network of consultants is the best way to truly help our clients in whatever they may need.
Please note that our consultants are not members of the Long Island Society for Paranormal Research. If you are a person of trade and wish to find out more about being a consultant for LISPR, please see our “contact” page for more information.
